I’m a living breathing part of the American West. Currently spending my days on the Oregon Coast and in the SF Bay Area, with deep roots in California and deeper ones in the rural high deserts of the southwest.
I write fiction and nonfiction and have a faith, lineage, and B.A. in storytelling. I think a lot about the story we are in at the moment collaboratively writing - as a culture and as a species - which the future will someday read. I strive to make it a good story, to not be a villain or terribly embarrass myself, to include fun dialogue and engaging story lines, to break the fourth wall when it counts and most importantly: to contribute to a pleasant and life-affirming culture for future readers. I am writing a collection of nonfiction to capture this incredible time and place we find ourselves in. You’ll be able to read it at thesuncult.com, but not today.
I work as a project manager in the nonprofit sector, connecting mission driven organizations with a team of professionals providing a variety of technical assistance: fund development, design and communications, operational, financial services, et cetera. We provide services to direct client nonprofits and to less-resourced nonprofits via state or foundational grant making. I also operate as a liaison between philanthropic foundations and nonprofits, tribes, or jurisdictions during disaster events to swiftly connect affected populations with interested funders. This work is conducted via the Oregon Disaster Funders Network, which I co manage with the founder. We’ve recently partnered with the Office of Governor Tina Kotek to address food security in Oregon, which you can read about here. My firm also manages the Federal Readiness & Leverage Fund.
In the past I’ve worked as a Personal Assistant for Clinical Psychologists in the SF Bay Area and as an Executive Assistant to professionals the Pacific Northwest, as a General Manager and Operations Lead for successful Bay Area hospitality businesses, and probably served you a cocktail if you frequented dives in the Tenderloin or Mission districts in the 2010s. I lived off grid in the high deserts of Colorado and New Mexico when I wasn’t doing those things.
Dilettante in geopolitics. This year I’m learning Spanish and ham radio. I used to make websites but don’t anymore. I’m grateful to have seen and participated in the 90s internet and was an early adopter and early abandoner of social media, though don’t mistake me for a Luddite. Or maybe do. I haven’t given up on the information age. I mention socials because you won’t find any at this time, though you can email me, or if you’re not in a hurry: send a note to the address below.
I write back. I’m an open book.
